THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM

In the candy-colored world of 1950’s suburbia, a reluctant housewife suspects that the friendly neighborhood dentist is hiding a horrible secret... but is it just the anesthesia, or is something more sinister hiding just below the surface? “Open up and say AHHHHH!”

Ryan Spindell expertly combines wonderful visuals, excellent production design and some dark humor into a fantastic little short of whimsical horror. A greatly look forward to his next short and hopefully a transition into feature filmmaking.

Delightfully deranged right down to its pulpy center.

Set in the 1950’s this perfectly cast, spectacular short is a visual feast. Running only fourteen minutes, ROOT wastes no time pulling the viewer into a world that is utterly disturbing. The primal fear and nervous tension of the piece is almost palatable. Every single scene is utter perfection as it creates the overall mood of the film.
